AiJoy Signing is instilling the love of language and communication between children and their caregivers, friends and family members. We have developed a unique ASL and Spanish vocabulary combination class that introduces two new ways of communicating at the same time. Our Play and Sign / Jugar y hablar por señas class is designed to take advantage of the window of time when children are young enough that they can differentiate the sounds between Spanish and English and pick up multiple languages with the ease that a monolingual child does. You can expect that you and your child will have success picking up new vocabulary that can be put to use immediately. We focus on vocabulary that is common throughout the day so your knowledge can be integrated into your daily life with ease.
Taking classes from AiJoy Signing will create positive interactions between you and your child(ren) as you have face-to-face communication. Preverbal children will be able to express their needs and wants earlier, and children with large speaking vocabulary will have fun exploring other ways to communicate through ASL and Spanish. By taking a class from AiJoy Signing you will be introducing your child to the world around them. AiJoy Signing believes in engaging and energizing students' learning by crafting lessons that include audio-visual, kinesthetic elements. We utilize hand puppets, board books, a felt board, songs, videos, games, and a SMART Board with a computer projection system to engage all learners, big and small. You will walk out of class with materials in hand to be successful immediately. Visit our website for more details on our baby sign language classes and to register.
Amanda Biles holds a current elementary teaching license for the state of Colorado and spent four years teaching for Jefferson County Public Schools before becoming a stay at home mom. Amanda taught teachers how to better integrate technology into their classrooms through the use of interactive whiteboards and is thrilled to be able to continue using this technology with AiJoy Signing.
Katrina Dorow is a Colorado native who has explored the far reaches of the world. She has traveled with Up With People to Europe, studied abroad in Mexico, and spent 18 months in Johannesburg, South Africa.
